You Are Enough

Find a comfortable seated position and close your eyes. Before we begin, I want you to know something: you deserve this time. Not because you've earned it, not because you've been productive enough today — simply because you exist. That alone is enough.

... take a moment to pause ...

Begin with three slow breaths. Breathe in kindness... breathe out judgment.

... breathe deeply ...

Breathe in acceptance... breathe out criticism.

... breathe deeply ...

Breathe in love... breathe out doubt.

... breathe deeply ...

Place one or both hands over your heart. Feel the warmth of your own touch. Feel your heart beating beneath your palms — this heart that has kept you alive through every moment of your life, through every joy and every hardship. It has never stopped working for you.

... take a moment to pause ...

Think about how you speak to someone you love dearly — a child, a best friend, a partner. Think about the gentleness in your voice, the patience you offer them, the way you see their imperfections as part of what makes them beautiful.

... take a moment to pause ...

Now I'm going to ask you to turn that same voice inward. Speak to yourself with that same tenderness. It may feel unfamiliar. That's okay. Like any practice, self-compassion grows with repetition.

... take a moment to pause ...

Silently, in your mind, say these words to yourself. Feel each one. Mean each one.

... take a moment to pause ...

"I am worthy of love and belonging."

... take a longer pause here ...

"My imperfections do not diminish my worth."

... take a longer pause here ...

"I forgive myself for the mistakes I have made. They were part of my learning."

... take a longer pause here ...

"I release the need to be perfect. I embrace being real."

... take a longer pause here ...

Now think of something you've been criticizing yourself about recently. A mistake, a perceived failure, something about your appearance or abilities. Bring it to mind, but this time, meet it with compassion instead of judgment.

... take a moment to pause ...

Imagine yourself as a small child experiencing that same difficulty. What would you say to that child? You wouldn't berate them. You would kneel down, look into their eyes, and say, "It's okay. You tried your best. I'm proud of you."

... take a longer pause here ...

Say those words to yourself now. "It's okay. I tried my best. I'm proud of me."

... take a longer pause here ...

Feel the warmth under your hands expand. Imagine it as a soft pink or golden light radiating from your heart center, filling your chest, spreading through your whole body. This is self-love — not arrogance, not selfishness, but the simple, radical act of being kind to yourself.

... take a moment to pause ...

This light is always available to you. Whenever the inner critic speaks, you can place your hand on your heart and return to this warmth. You can remind yourself: I am human. I am learning. I am enough.

... breathe deeply ...

Let's seal this practice with three final affirmations. Repeat each one silently after me, letting it sink into your bones.

"I am enough, exactly as I am today."

... take a longer pause here ...

"I deserve the same compassion I give to others."

... take a longer pause here ...

"I am worthy of my own love."

... take a longer pause here ...

Take a deep breath in, filling yourself with this truth... and exhale gently. Release your hands from your heart when you're ready. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Open your eyes softly.

... take a moment to pause ...

Carry this tenderness with you. You deserve it — today, tomorrow, always.
