## The toughest part about making a change? It’s not always figuring out what to do—it’s just starting. That first step feels heavier than all the rest.

Most of us let our minds run wild before we even begin. We picture every possible thing that could go sideways. We think about how far we have to go, how much is involved. Suddenly, change starts looking like a mountain.

But you don’t need to solve everything today. Really, all you need is to move. **Just start.**

## You Don’t Need Every Answer

Trying something new is nerve-wracking. Maybe you want to switch careers, eat better, start a project, fix a relationship, or just shake up your routine. Odds are, you’re not sure how it’s all going to turn out. That’s fine.

The first step isn’t supposed to hand you a roadmap. Its job is to get you moving, nothing more.

As you start, you’ll learn, adjust course, screw up, find better paths.

> Clarity shows up after you’ve begun, not before.

## Small Beginnings Count

We don’t give enough credit to small starts.

- Reading a couple pages won’t make you an expert.
- One workout won’t change your life.
- Sending a single job application, or having one tough talk, probably won’t flip everything around.

But every tiny action moves you closer to where you want to be.

Progress isn’t always a big leap. Sometimes, it’s barely a shuffle—but it’s better than standing still, waiting for the stars to line up.

## Don’t Wait for Readiness

Here's the thing: **Perfect readiness might never show up.**

There’s always a little doubt or nervousness rattling around. Maybe you second-guess your choice.

But confidence grows once you get moving, not before.

Take action, scared or not. Start, even if you’re unsure or things aren’t tidy.

> Imperfect is fine. You’re allowed to be nervous.

You just need a bit of courage—just enough for that first move.

## Stay Present. Take What’s Next.

When a goal feels too big, don’t let your brain fixate on the whole mountain.

Look down.

**What's the next foothold?**

- Want to write a book? Write a page.
- Learning something new? Try one lesson.
- Changing your daily rhythm? Swap out a habit.
- Chasing a dream? Take just one practical action.

Don’t carry the whole journey at once.

Every small step opens up another one. Little by little, you lay down a path.

## Perfection Isn’t the Point

A lot of us stall because we’re waiting for perfect timing, the perfect plan, the perfect mood.

But **“perfect” is just another way to put things off.**

Start with what you’ve got, where you are.

Let things be messy. Change course as you learn.

> You don’t need a flawless first move. You just need to stop standing still.

## Celebrate the Start

Final achievements get all the hype, but beginnings are everything.

That first choice to try? That matters.

The day you stop waiting? That matters.

If you’ve taken even a small step toward something you care about, give yourself credit.

You might not be there yet, but you’re not where you started.

**That’s progress.**

## Keep Moving—One Step at a Time

Not every journey goes according to plan.

Sometimes it takes longer. Sometimes you backtrack, or need to start over.

That doesn’t mean your first step was pointless.

Every step teaches you something.

Don’t get stuck staring at how far you still have to go.

Look at where you are.

Then ask, **“What’s one small thing I can do next?”**

Do that.

Then, tomorrow, another.

You won’t get there overnight, but you’ll be moving—and that’s what counts.

> The first step might not take you right to your goal, but it gets you out of where you’ve been.

That’s how every new story begins.
