The Heartfelt Story of Kroshik: The Orange Tabby’s Rescue and Rehabilitation Journey

Good news

The Discovery of Kroshik

Kroshik, affectionately known as “Crumbs,” is a 17 kg (38 lbs) orange tabby cat found abandoned in a hospital basement in Perm, Russia. His name, meaning “Crumbs,” reflects his fondness for food. Hospital staff had been feeding him a diet of crackers, soup, and meat, leading to his significant weight gain. Due to his size, Kroshik was unable to walk when discovered.

Rehabilitation Journey

Upon rescue, Kroshik was taken to the Matroskin Shelter, where he began a structured weight-loss program. This included hydrotherapy, kinesiotherapy, and a controlled diet aimed at reducing his weight by 70%. Despite his initial struggles, Kroshik showed signs of improvement, such as attempting to escape his enclosure, indicating increased activity levels.

A Heartfelt Farewell

Tragically, Kroshik passed away during his rehabilitation. Veterinarians discovered multiple internal growths and metastases, which contributed to his decline. His journey, though short, highlighted the profound impact of compassion and care, reminding us of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the well-being of animals.
